| About Us! We are a group of volunteers from the police department and other agencies in the community. We started this in 2006 with our first youth safety fair which took place at the Dothan Brook School. We started this with a very small budget of about $100 and a limited amount of supplies and participants. Through the years we have expanded through many kind contributions and the addition of volunteers and resources. Going into our third youth safety fair we have a larger budget, many kind volunteers from the community and surrounding agencies, and a larger amount of donations. |
| Come by and meet McGruff the Crime Dog, Sammy the Skunk, Smoky the Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog! |

| Our safety fair on May 31, 2008 was a huge success!!!!! While the weather was not perfect, the rain was kind enough to hold out for most of the event. We had an amazing turnout, and it was probably our best fair yet. We want to thank all of the people who came and brought their children. One of our goals is to educate youths and parents about different types of safety, and doing this while having fun. This safety fair would not have turned out as great as it did if it was not for our wonderful sponsors! Liberty Mutual did an amazing job, they provided the child ID kits, the bike rodeo, and much more. The army Nation Guard brought a rock climbing wall and an obstacle course, Operation Lifesaver did a wonderful job teaching youths about railroad safety. US Cellular brought great information to teach youths about dialing 911 on cell phones. The Quechee Cub Scouts did a wonderful job on their barbecue, and Video Stop donated a popcorn machine so we could give out popcorn throughout our event. We had face painting, fatal vision goggles, and the Hartford High School's Nurse set up a table to take blood pressures and teach about blood pressure awareness. The Governor's Highway Safety Program had a wonderful child safety seat inspection point right at the entrance to the fair. We had a Fire Safety Trailer which taught people how to escape from a building when their is smoke or fire, we also had the Kiwanis Club there selling bicycle helmets at an affordable price. We had so many prizes that by the end of the fair everyone who was still there received a prize through our raffle. We also had so much help from the students from Hartford High School, it really made set-up and clean-up so much easier. If you came to this year's safety fair we would love to hear from you.
